Awe is the freshest fashion label to emerge from the streets of Johannesburg South Africa! In translation, ”Awe” is a greeting or an acknowledgement from one person to another. The brand’s representatives stress that thier purpose is “not to compete or replace other brands on the market”. Their motto is “Together we can achieve so much more.”
Inspired by the street culture and slang that roams the streets of South Africa, Awe aims to showcase the phenomena of South Africa’s culture, fashion, and its people. The brand is much more than a clothing label, its creators say. They add on, “It is about who you are, and is about changing the mindset of our young people, because after all they are the future. Awe is all about displaying your confidence! Embrace It and make it yours!”
Awe was started by young gentlemen named Craig Scheepers in June 2010. When he came up with the notion he was fearful that the public might not take to kind to his idea. However, this fueled him to do more research as to how he could make the brand successful. In April 2011 he finally decided to launch Awe. He started with only 25 t-shirts and from there the support grew and so did his winning attitude!
Scheepers says, “Awe is here to empower our neighborhoods and give back to the less fortunate. By purchasing an Awe item you donate 10% to a nominated charity.“
Awe’s products vary from t-shirts, caps, shades, hoodies, vests, and more! The items are exclusively sold in Soul Candi, but will branch out in the future, and soon, online for international expansion!
