Stepping into The Gallery Lounge off of 138th street and Bruckner Boulevard in The Bronx, NY I wasn’t expecting the night that opened in front of me. There was amazing V.I.P. Service and overall staff and customer interaction. The security was on point and so was the music and for that, we can give credit to DJ N.O.E., who was spinning old school and contemporary hip hop & reggae classics!
The crowd definitely loved him. Meeting DJ N.O.E. was an experience. The first thing I noticed when meeting DJ N.O.E. was his striking eyes that seem to pierce your soul and tell you a story, the next thing I noticed was that he was in his zone. He was mixing tunes back and forth and just vibing with his own art and that was amazing to witness.
The DJ booth, which I might add is pretty high up from the crowd, gave the DJ a sense of power and command that they deserve. They get to see the dancing patrons move to their music and see how the music has taken them over.
Another thing I didn’t realize is how much of ”in the presence of greatness” I was in. DJ N.O.E. is not just any DJ. He has been working hard in the industry for 16 years. He was born in Michigan which he lived in until he was 11 years old then moved to the Bronx, where he has been molding and perfecting and working on his craft.
Many individuals who grew up in the Bronx during the 80′s and the 90′s, including myself, looked up to film actors that we could relate to and found inpriration from them. In N.O.E.’s case he was inspired by the movie Juice to become a DJ. Many who have seen the movie can’t forget the DJ battle scene that occurred in the movie and the trials and tribulations that the youngsters went through growing up in the tough streets of New York.
During his career, DJ N.O.E. has met many greats such as the late Michael Jackson and our former President, Bill Clinton. DJ N.O.E has shared the stage and had received respect from many noted artists such as Nas, Jay-z, Swizz Beats, Pharrell Williams, Mos Def and Bone Thugs and Harmony, just name a few.
It doesn’t stop there either! DJ N.O.E. has been working even harder to crossover and do film. He really is stepping into a new found way to broaden his career by branching into videography. N.O.E wants to be the first DJ videographer. From witnessing DJ N.O.E.’s talent in person I can vouch that he is definitely on his way towards that goal.
Currently, he is not only DJing for Fred the Godson sets but also films them! He is hands on from cut, copying, and editing and having it all over blogs the next day all on his own. I can absolutely respect that.
You can find DJ N.O.E. mixing and hosting at The Matrix Studio’s primetime web cast program with Tribe Called Quest own, PHIFE Dawg and Crazy Mob Squad Radio. On Mondays, DJ N.O.E. hosts the live webcast titled “Never Stop Partying” provided by Sikmixxradio with another well known artist in the industry.
I hope to see and hear more of DJ N.O.E. and hope he accomplishes more awards like he did for the 2011 UMA DJ of the year and being featured in F.E.D.S. and Hip Hop Weekly Magazine. He is also currently working a mixtape with BX monster OUNP and has a cameo in OUNP new video “Bad Girl” ft. Fatman Scoop and Remo. To view check it, click HERE.
Being a Bronx native, I admire more of my Bronxnites growing in the genre that started where we come from. I also want to give a special thanks to The Gallery Lounge General Manager Rob Salese and Joana as well as William Gone who made the night an amazing experience that I could share with the www.JosiMarie.com readers!
